How many times have you sat down to make a list of your New Years Resolutions and they’re forgotten by the second week of January?

I’ve been there!

I can’t tell you how many notebooks, bullet journals, and planners I’ve purchased; only for them to accumulate an inch of dust on my nightstand.

This year, I wanted to change that.

I get it- January 1st is just another day, but it is so much more than that for me!

To me, it’s a fresh start. I know nothing “technically” changes the moment the clock strikes midnight, but it’s more of a mindset change for me.

This doesn’t mean that you need to set goals and follow them to a T.

It’s going to take some work, and if you fail- IT’S OKAY!

I have decided to stop retreated to old habits of feeling like a failure when I miss one day of completing a goal I have set.

So, if you’re ready to stop giving up, follow me on this journey to setting and accomplishing your New Years Resolutions!

What Do I Need To Get Started?

I am a very visual person, and I prefer to look at a list of my goals instead of speaking them out loud.

Whether you decide to use a bullet journal or a scrap piece of paper, it is your preference!

Of course, I could recommend my favorite pens, fineliners, and washi tape but, all of that doesn’t matter if you don’t have the motivation to actually accomplish your goals.

Personally, I enjoy being able to plan out my weeks and having the freedom to list out my goals at the same time.

This is why bullet journaling works so well for me.

Before I get into my goals for this year, I’d like to share my 2020 journal.

Leuchtturm1917

I’ve tried a few different bullet journals, but the Leuchtturm 1917 has by far been my favorite!

If you’re familiar with bullet journaling, you know how much it helps to have a key!

I will come back to this page if I can’t remember how many dots I need to count in order to divide the page.

My next page will be my year in advance.

You’ll see a variety of spreads for the “year at a glance” and the birthdays are typically on another sheet.

This year, I decided to combine them; I’m very happy with the turnout!

Moving on, I included a January “front page.” I’m still decided what else I will be including on this page.

Possibly some quotes I’m loving this month?

I got a little too excited this year with a new bullet journal that I accidentally put the January sheet before the year at a glance!

Oops!

Next is the January month at a glance. This is where I will be including important events or projects that I need to get done such as blog posts.

Month at a glance spreads helps me see everything at once, which tends to keep me more accountable.

In the past, I used to separate work from personal; this year I decided to have one bullet journal for both since I’m now working from home.

Last but not least is my week at a glance spread.

There are so many different weekly spreads, but honestly, I enjoy being able to see everything right in front of me.

This year, I want to experiment with time-blocking to see if that makes a difference with my time management.

I chose a spread that would allow me to write down tasks, as well as view my time blocks.

If you’ve been contemplating starting a bullet journal yourself, I’m here to tell you- Do it!

It has really helped me to stay organized with my family, work and goals!

Now, let’s get into the nitty-gritty, shall we? 🙂

2020 Goals

I’d like to preface this by saying that the one thing that has been allowing me to stick to these goals is: giving myself grace.

Statistics show that we typically drop a resolution around the second week of January.

Is this accurate?

It was for me!

The moment I stopped putting so much pressure on myself to stick to each goal is the moment I actually stuck to them!

Are you going to have days that you don’t want to eat healthily?

YES! Most definitely.

However, if you do decide to eat a one-pound juicy burger, pick right back up where you left off!

I used to say- “Well, I messed up already, I’ll just give up.”

I’m sure you’ve been there!

This year, let’s make it a point to give ourselves grace.

Read The Bible Every Day

new year resolutions, blessedtobeamommy

This is can definitely be a subjective goal, but for me- this will be a must this year.

I can’t even begin to explain the difference this makes for me.

Whether it’s opening up my bible, or reading from my bible app- I will consume His word daily.

I have alotted some “me-time” every morning to start my day in His word.

Implement A Morning/ Night Routine

new year resolutions, blessedtobeamommy

Having a newborn has taught me many things, but I didn’t realize just how important a morning and night routine was for my baby until I started to implement them.

At two months, my baby was sleeping through the whole night!

Usually, she would fall asleep, and I would try hard to get some shut-eye.

That didn’t happen, though.

My mind would be racing, and I just couldn’t fall asleep quickly.

Then, the morning would come and I couldn’t seem to get motivated for the day ahead of me.

Up until recently is when it finally clicked.

If my baby started to sleep throughout the night, and not be fussy throughout the day after implementing a morning and night routine- why don’t I do the same?

This year, I am focusing on putting together my own routines and I have to say- it has worked like a charm, so far!

Be More Present

There is nothing more fulfilling than seeing the look on your baby’s face when you smile at them.

Why would I want them to look up and see me on my phone?

My baby is currently eight-months-old and she is starting to notice when I am not giving her the attention she craves.

I am guilty of scrolling through Instagram, viewing other mom accounts, while my baby is staring at me most likely wondering why I am paying more attention to the device in my hand.

For this reason, I have chosen to be more present with my family this year.

This means no phones at the table, during a movie, or during play-time with my baby.

Declutter Our Home

new year resolutions, blessedtobeamommy

I feel like this has been a goal of mine every year, and somehow it always got moved to the back burner.

Something always came up, or I just didn’t feel like it!

This year, God willing, we will be moving into another home. I do not want to be moving stuff that hasn’t been used in years!

I will be focusing on decluttering every inch of my home!

This should be interesting with an eight-month-old baby that is now crawling!

Work On Repairing Pelvic Floor

new year resolutions, blessedtobeamommy

There’s no doubt about the stress your body goes through when giving birth.

As much as you prepare your body physically, your pelvic floor still takes a hit!

I want to focus on doing exercises that will help to strengthen my pelvic floor and prepare me for baby number two when the times comes!

Self-Care

After having a baby, she became my number one priority. I put my self-care aside and basically “let myself go.”

I don’t necessarily mean that I gained one hundred pounds and didn’t shave my legs for eight months.

I mean, I didn’t focus on how my hair looked, if I did my makeup or not, or if I got a good walk in.

I want to make myself a priority, again.

How can I take care of my family if I am not taking care of myself?

This will look something like walking every day, eating more greens, doing more yoga and fixing my hair!

Time Blocking

new year resolutions, blessedtobeamommy

Last year, my excuse was always- “I don’t have the time! I wish there were more hours in the day to get stuff done!”

Sound familiar?

I’ve come across moms that have 6+ kids, and somehow seem to get it all done!

After speaking to a few of them, I ask what their secret was.

They said it was time blocking!

If you noticed from the image I included from my bullet journal, I am focusing on allotting a certain amount of time to different tasks.

My issue was that I had so much to get done and I had no idea where to start!

So, I would try and do everything at once and would end up not getting anything done!

Will you be giving it a try?

Publish My e-Book

new year resolutions, blessedtobeamommy

This is more of a work goal that I have been toying around with for eight months now!

As a first-time mom, I was told by many people that I would not be able to have an unmedicated birth because it would be too painful.

Well, guess what?

I did it!

Zero medication!

I want to share the things I did to have a successful birth, so I will write an e-Book this year!

Work On Growing My Instagram

Very recently, I started posting more frequently on my Instagram.

Last year I was focusing more on growing my blog, but I would like to work on growing my Instagram following.

I am not interested in paying someone to get followers; I would much rather do this genuinely, by being myself!

How did you grow your following?

Mend Broken Relationships

This is not something you typically see on a list of goals, but I most definitely want to work on this, this year.

I was recently having a conversation with my husband and told him how tired I was of the “family drama” and how I wanted to get rid of that!

I have a few broken relationships I will be focusing on this year, and I couldn’t be more excited!

That’s it! I hope this post on New Years Resolutions will inspire you to put together your own list of goals for this year!

Remember to give yourself grace if you “fail” and keep going!

I’m curious- what are your goals?
